Position Description: Seeking organic gardening services for Winter & Spring Naturescaping Projects. Gardening services needed usually include:

Removal/control of invasive plants;
Sheet mulching;
Placing erosion control matting;
Hand weeding;
Pruning small trees & shrubs &ndash up to 10 feet;
Raking & general clean-up;
Review and interpretation of planting plans;
Identification & planting of native trees, shrubs, and groundcovers;
Creation of simple walking paths;
Building vegetable beds and worm bins; and
Spreading compost, bark mulch, and/or rocks.

Skills & Abilities: Solid knowledge and skills in the above-mentioned gardening services needed. Previous gardening work experience required. May work solo or with a team of gardeners (we sometimes garden with homeowners as well). Jobs are generally located within the city of Seattle. Best character match for position: person who is responsible, self-directed, honest, efficient, good problem solver and communicator, and a team player. Expected to have your own hand tools and transportation for each job.

Pay Range: $15 - $19/hr., for hours worked at job site, to generally be paid in a lump sum upon completion of each contracted landscaping job. Pay rate depends upon level of experience.

During the interview, a brief information sheet is completed; business policy/philosophy is shared; and Contract Gardener system reviewed. If the match seems good, references are checked. If references show a good match, then a contract is offered. An Independent Contractor Agreement is signed with each landscape job.
